The Armed Police Base Camp, Semari destroyed at least 200 chicks which were illegally brought to Nawalparasi from India on Thursday morning.
According to Armed Police Force Border Security Office SP Bhagwan Malla the chicks were destroyed at the premises of the quarantine checkpost. The chicks violated regulations in Nepal relating to the bird flu virus.
The illegal businessmen on bicycles fled on spotting the security personnel, abandoning the chicks. The chicks were worth about Rs. 1,20,000 (= US$1585).
